Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Men's Soccer had the best season in Program History. They finished 13-3-1, ranked #8 in the NCCAA DI, competed in the first round of the National Tournament, and earned multiple player awards from the NCCAA. The Bruins started off the season with a Program best 7-0 record. After a stumble in the middle of the season, the Bruins closed 5-0-1 to finish the regular season at 12-2-1. This is the most wins that Coach Golding has accomplished. The fantastic regular season allowed CU to be the South Regional representative at the National Tournament.Â
The Bruins had an exciting opening round in the National Tournament. They were able to win the first match of pool play 1-0, holding off the #2 ranked opponent, Cedarville University. Carolina University went on to play in the second match against #5 Campbellsville University. Unfortunately, they lost the match 0-2, keeping them from advancing to the semi-final rounds.Â
Several players earned awards and recognition this season. Matthew McCamley was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team in Kissimmee, FL. Mario Salinas made the NCCAA DI All-American 2nd Team after being named to the All-Region Team.
