BABSON PARK, Fla. — Carolina University Men's Soccer responded to its first loss of the 2026 season in impressive fashion Thursday afternoon, defeating Webber International University 4-1 at Webber Grass Field.
Coming off a setback against Pikeville, the Bruins wasted little time establishing themselves in the opening match of their Florida road trip. Carolina scored twice in the opening six minutes and added two more goals after halftime to improve to 4-1 overall.
Carolina struck first just 3:16 into the contest when Kyryl Dmytryk found the back of the net off an assist from Will McCamley. The goal was Dmytryk's third of the season. Just over two minutes later, McCamley set up another goal, this time finding Sonny West for his first goal of the season to give the Bruins an early 2-0 advantage.
Despite Webber International generating pressure throughout the opening half, Carolina goalkeeper Isaac Bunton kept the Warriors off the scoreboard. Bunton finished the afternoon with seven saves, playing all 90 minutes in goal for the Bruins.
Carolina extended its lead shortly after halftime. After Webber International missed a penalty kick in the 47th minute, McCamley converted a penalty of his own at 49:10, scoring his third goal of the season and pushing the Bruins' advantage to 3-0.
Webber International broke through in the 71st minute on a goal from Seth James-Feder, but Carolina quickly answered. Carlos Ramirez restored the three-goal advantage at 74:49, scoring his second goal of the season to put the finishing touches on the 4-1 victory.
The Bruins were efficient with their opportunities despite Webber International holding a 22-15 advantage in total shots. Carolina placed 11 of its 15 attempts on goal, while Webber recorded eight shots on target. Will McCamley led the offensive effort with a goal and two assists, while Kyryl Dmytryk, Sonny West and Carlos Ramirez each added a goal.
Head Coach Craig Golding praised his team's response following its first setback of the season.
"I was really pleased with the way the guys responded today. After our first loss of the season, we challenged the group to come out with the right mentality and compete from the opening whistle, and scoring twice early really set the tone for us. There are still areas we can improve, but getting a result like this on the road against a quality opponent is something we can build on. Now our focus turns to finishing this Florida trip the right way on Saturday."
Carolina will remain in Florida and return to action on Saturday, September 12, when the Bruins take on Warner University at 10 a.m.
