LAKE WALES, Fla. — Carolina University Men's Soccer capped off a successful trip to the Sunshine State in impressive fashion Saturday morning, defeating Warner University 4-1 to complete a 2-0 road swing through Florida.
After opening the trip with a 4-1 victory over Webber International on Thursday, September 10, the Bruins returned to action Saturday, September 12, for a 10 a.m. matchup against Warner. Carolina carried its momentum into the contest, scoring three times in the opening half before adding another after the break to secure its second consecutive 4-1 victory.
The win improved Carolina University to 5-1-0 on the season, while Warner fell to 1-3-2.
Junior forward Will McCamley wasted little time putting his stamp on the match. Just 4:47 into the contest, McCamley found the back of the net off an assist from Sonny West, giving Carolina an early 1-0 advantage.
Less than a minute later, McCamley struck again at the 5:42 mark to quickly double the Bruins' lead. The two early goals gave Carolina control despite Warner generating pressure of its own throughout the opening period.
McCamley completed his hat trick before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Jordan Julien set up McCamley for his third goal of the morning, sending Carolina into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Bruins' attack remained efficient in the second half. At 68:11, Nicolas Meurer assisted McCamley for his fourth goal of the match and seventh of the season, extending Carolina's advantage to 4-0. Warner's Jackson Davenport answered for the Royals, producing the eventual 4-1 final.
McCamley finished an outstanding morning with four goals on five shots, including four shots on goal. Meurer, Julien and West each contributed an assist for the Bruins.
While Carolina's attack capitalized on its opportunities, goalkeeper Andre Rojas Chavez helped keep Warner from gaining momentum. Warner finished with an 18-8 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks, but Carolina limited the Royals to three shots on goal. Rojas Chavez made two saves and surrendered just one goal over the full 90 minutes.
One of his biggest moments came in the 64th minute when Warner was awarded a penalty kick. Rojas Chavez denied Davenport's attempt to preserve Carolina's 3-0 advantage at the time.
The Bruins were also forced to finish the final 13 minutes with 10 players following a red card to Luca Janzen in the 77th minute, but Carolina held its three-goal advantage through the final whistle.

Winning two matches away from home in a short turnaround takes discipline, focus and a complete team effort. Will was clinical in front of goal today, and Andre made a huge save on the penalty to keep us in control. To come down to Florida and earn two 4-1 victories is a positive step for our group, but we know there is still plenty of work ahead of us."
Carolina leaves Florida having outscored its opponents 8-2 over the two-match road trip, picking up victories over Webber International and Warner University while improving to 5-1 on the season.
