Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Carolina University Bruins softball team opened CAC conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling in both games of a doubleheader at Georgia Gwinnett College. After entering the weekend looking to snap a four-game skid, the Bruins were unable to generate enough offense, dropping Game 1 and Game 2 in Lawrenceville.
Game 1: Georgia Gwinnett 10, Carolina 0 (5 innings)
Carolina was held scoreless in the opener, managing four hits across five innings while Georgia Gwinnett capitalized offensively to secure a 10-0 run-rule victory.
The Bruins saw hits from Lexi Hall, Madison Hamilton, Anni Bergmeier, and Emily Wilson, but were unable to string together a scoring opportunity, leaving four runners on base.
In the circle, Anni Bergmeier went the distance, tossing 4.0 innings while recording one strikeout. Georgia Gwinnett used a combination of timely hitting and pressure on the bases to build separation early.
Game 2: Georgia Gwinnett 10, Carolina 0 (5 innings)
In game two, Carolina again collected four hits but could not break through offensively, falling 10-0 in another five-inning contest.
Nathaly Ochoa led the Bruins with a double, while Emily Wilson, Chloe Herbster, and Jocelyn DeMoss each added a hit. Carolina also showed improved plate discipline with two walks but stranded six runners.
Defensively, the Bruins were more consistent, committing no errors, but Georgia Gwinnett's offense once again proved efficient, scoring in multiple innings to secure the sweep.
Coach's Comments
