MILLIGAN, Tenn. — The Carolina University Bruins softball team opened a Saturday doubleheader with a strong offensive showing before falling in the nightcap, splitting the series against Milligan University at Anglin Field on April 18.
Game 1: Carolina 5, Milligan 3
Carolina struck early and never trailed, plating three runs in the opening inning and adding insurance in the fifth to secure a 5-3 win.
The Bruins tallied 12 hits in the contest, led by multi-hit performances from Nathaly Ochoa, Madison Hamilton, Emma-Lea Cabral, and Lexi Hall. Hall scored twice, while Ellie Haas delivered the key swing of the game with a two-RBI double in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie.
In the circle, Anni Bergmeier went the distance, allowing three runs (two earned) on 10 hits while working through traffic to earn the complete-game victory.

Game 2: Milligan 5, Carolina 0
Milligan responded in the second game, using a four-run third inning to take control and secure a 5-0 shutout win.
Carolina was limited to just one hit in the contest, a triple from Nathaly Ochoa, as Milligan pitcher Bree Presnell kept the Bruins off balance with seven strikeouts over seven innings.
Madison Hamilton took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs on eight hits across six innings of work.

Carolina moves forward after the split, continuing to gain experience and momentum as the season progresses. Carolina University will host Montreat College on Wednesday April 22, 2026 with a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
