LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The No. 5 seed Carolina University Bruins softball team saw its season come to a close on Thursday, April 30, falling to No. 3 seed Westcliff University in an elimination game at the CAC Softball Tournament hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College.
After opening the tournament with a tough loss to No. 4 Alice Lloyd College, the Bruins entered Thursday's matchup determined to extend their postseason run. Carolina showed resilience throughout the contest, battling through momentum swings and continuing the fight that defined their season, but ultimately came up short against a strong Westcliff squad.
Despite the result, the Bruins displayed grit at the plate and in the field, with timely hits and key defensive plays keeping the game competitive. Throughout the tournament, Carolina relied on contributions up and down the lineup, a reflection of the team's growth and perseverance over the course of the season.
Statistically, the Bruins were anchored by consistent offensive production, with multiple players contributing base hits and advancing runners in key situations. Defensively, Carolina worked through challenging innings, limiting damage and responding with composure in high-pressure moments.
The 2026 campaign was marked by adversity and determination, as the Bruins navigated a season full of ups and downs to earn a spot in the CAC Tournament. Under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Danielle Brooks, the team remained united and continued to compete at a high level.
"This group never stopped fighting, no matter the circumstances," said Brooks. "I'm incredibly proud of the way they handled adversity and continued to show up for each other every single day. It's been an honor to step into this role and coach such a resilient group of young women."
Carolina University concludes its season with a 14–30 overall record, closing the chapter on a year defined by growth, perseverance, and a return to postseason play.
