Cumberlands Dominates Carolina University in Weekend Series

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The University of Kentucky Cumberlands, the #9 ranked team in the NAIA, showcased their strength this weekend in a series against Carolina University, held in Williamsburg, KY. Cumberlands demonstrated their prowess on the field, securing decisive victories in all three games.

Game 1: Cumberlands 15, Carolina University 0
The series opened on April 4th with a commanding 15-0 victory for Cumberlands. Cumberlands' offense exploded in the first inning, scoring six runs and setting the tone for the game. Carolina University struggled to generate offense, managing only one hit in the game. K. Hamson earned the win for Cumberlands, pitching 6 shutout innings. 

Game 2: Cumberlands 6, Carolina University 0 
Cumberlands continued their strong performance on April 5th, defeating Carolina University 6-0. Cumberlands scored 4 runs in the first inning and added single runs in the 2nd and 4th. C. Muniz again was a key contributor with a home run, a triple and 2 RBIs. Carolina University's offense was limited to just four hits. K. Billings picked up the win for Cumberlands.  

Game 3: Cumberlands 31, Carolina University 2
The final game of the series was another lopsided victory for Cumberlands, with a final score of 31-2. Cumberlands' offense was relentless, scoring 5 runs in the 1st, 11 in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd. T. Prokes and M. Harper each hit two home runs, while Prokes had 6 RBIs and Harper had 4. Carolina University managed 4 hits, including home runs from R. Smith and A. Fontanez. C. Morgan earned the win for Cumberlands.  

Highlights on the weekend:
  • Robbie Smith hit a home run in the 4th inning, scoring Carolina's first run of the game and the series
  • Alexis Fontanez hit a home run in the 7th inning, driving in another run.  
Overall Series Summary

The University of Kentucky Cumberlands demonstrated why they are considered one of the top teams in the NAIA, with a #9 ranking. Their powerful offense and strong pitching proved too much for Carolina University in this three-game series.
