Carolina University Splits Doubleheader Against Ohio Christian at Truist Field

Carolina University took on Ohio Christian in a doubleheader at Truist Field, with both games showcasing strong performances and intense competition. The Bruins battled hard, falling just short in Game 1 but bouncing back to secure a win in Game 2.

Game 1: Late Rally Falls Short as Carolina Drops Opener 6-5
Ohio Christian capitalized on early opportunities, scoring in the third inning after an error allowed Z. Gomersall to steal home. A four-run fourth inning extended their lead to 5-0, with RBI hits from R. Evans and K. Runk playing key roles. Another run in the fifth, aided by a wild pitch, pushed the Trailblazers' lead to 6-0.

Carolina, however, refused to back down. The bottom of the fifth saw a five-run surge fueled by a two-RBI triple from R. Smith, an RBI single from Jase Brooks, and a clutch two-run hit by Alexis Fontanez. Despite loading the bases in the final inning, Carolina was unable to push across the tying run, falling 6-5.
Pitcher Kaleb Whitaker took the loss (1-3), while Ohio Christian's R. Clark (1-0) secured the win with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Game 2: Bruins Hold Off Late Surge to Earn 7-6 Victory
Determined to bounce back, Carolina University struck early in Game 2. The Bruins jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, scoring on a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single by Jacob Ananias. They broke the game open in the third with a five-run outburst, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Peyton Banks and a two-run hit by Abraham Leal.

Ohio Christian fought back with four runs in the fifth, including a two-RBI triple from M. Keener. The Trailblazers added another run in the sixth to cut the deficit to one, but J. Winecoff came in to close the door, securing the save and sealing a 7-6 win for Carolina.
Michael Dressendorfer (1-0) earned the win with four solid innings, while Ohio Christian's T. Olon (0-1) took the loss.
