Box Score 3 Mocksville, NC – Carolina University Baseball kicks off its season this weekend with a three-game series against the Bluefield University Rams.
In the first game of the series, the Blue and Gold struggled to find momentum, falling 12-3. Despite the loss, two Bruins—Alexiel Delgado and Alejandro Rodriguez—each hit home runs. The team is looking to bounce back in the second game.
Day 2 brought a much closer contest, with the Bruins losing by just one run, 8-7. In the bottom of the 7th inning, with the bases loaded and two outs on the board, the Bruins had an opportunity to make a comeback. Trailing 8-3, Chase Lee stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam, driving in four RBIs. The home run brought the score to 8-7, just one run shy of tying the game. However, the Bruins were unable to bring another runner across the plate, and the game ended with the Rams holding on to the narrow lead. The Bruins now head into game 2 of the doubleheader and game 3 of the series, determined to even things up.
In Game 3, the Bruins were locked in a deadlock with the Rams until the 4th inning, when Bluefield exploded for 7 runs, shifting the momentum in their favor. Despite their best efforts made by Alex Noll who tabbed the second Bruin homerun of the day, they ultimately fell 10-1.
Baseball action returns next Friday as the Bruins take on Fisher College at home, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 PM.
