Winston-Salem, NC- Carolina University men's basketball returns to the floor on Tuesday, December 16, traveling to Black Mountain, N.C., for a 5 p.m. non-conference matchup against Montreat College.
The Bruins enter the contest with momentum after opening CAC play with a hard-fought 75–70 victory over Alice Lloyd College on December 9. The win marked Carolina's first conference game of the season and snapped a brief skid, pushing the Bruins to 1–0 in league play.
Under head coach Jacob Heck, Carolina has continued to show steady growth, particularly on the offensive end. The Bruins are averaging 78.8 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, and they have been especially effective on the glass, holding a +10.4 rebounding margin this season.
Tuesday's matchup also serves as a quick rematch between the two programs. Carolina hosted Montreat on November 25 in a tightly contested game that went to overtime, where the Cavaliers escaped with an 82–81 victory. The Cavaliers led for much of the contest but the Bruins battled back and will look to flip the result this time around on Montreat's home floor.
Carolina's recent win over Alice Lloyd showcased the team's balance and resilience, as the Bruins controlled the rebounding battle and converted timely free throws down the stretch to secure the CAC-opening victory. That performance will be key again against a Montreat squad that thrives in close games.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Black Mountain, as Carolina looks to carry its conference momentum into non-conference play and even the season series with Montreat.
