Bruins Men’s Basketball Battle Down to the Wire in Road Test at Lindsey Wilson

Winston-Salem, NC - Fresh off a successful 2-0 weekend in Miami, the Carolina University Men's Basketball team hit the road once again on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference showdown at Lindsey Wilson. Despite a strong effort and multiple late pushes, the Bruins came up just short in an 82-77 contest at Biggers Sports Center.

Carolina (6-17) showed early confidence, carrying momentum from the previous weekend into the opening half. The Bruins executed efficiently on the offensive end, shooting over 50 percent in the first half while building paint production and second-chance opportunities. Carolina edged Lindsey Wilson 39-38 at the break behind balanced scoring and strong interior play.

Leading the way offensively was Deuce Ford with 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding key late baskets to keep Carolina within striking distance. Tristan Kuska provided a major inside presence, finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds, while DJ Evans added 14 points and a team-high seven assists. Enock Rosil anchored the glass with 11 points and nine rebounds in the effort.

The second half saw momentum swings from both sides as the lead changed hands several times. Lindsey Wilson capitalized on a highly efficient shooting stretch, connecting at over 65 percent from the field in the final period to create separation late.

Carolina continued to battle, trimming the deficit to single digits in the closing minute, but free throws in the final seconds sealed the result for the hosts.

Although the Bruins now sit at 6-17 on the season, the group continues to show signs of growth as postseason play approaches. Much like last year's squad that surged late and captured the CAC Tournament title in its first year in the NAIA, this year's team appears to be finding rhythm at the right time.

Head Coach Jake Heck Quote:
"I'm proud of the way our guys competed on the road against a very good Lindsey Wilson team. You can see us starting to put the pieces together — the chemistry, the execution, the toughness. We've been in these games all year, and now it's about finishing. With postseason getting closer, we believe we can make another late push just like we did last season."

Carolina will look to carry its late-season momentum forward as they host North Greenville on Thursday, February 12, 2025 at 6pm inside Williams Gymnasium.
