Bruins Men’s Basketball Look to Bounce Back Monday Against Brewton-Parker

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Carolina University Men's Basketball returns to Williams Gymnasium on Monday afternoon, looking to respond after a heartbreaking 82–81 overtime loss to Montreat College in their last outing. Under the direction of Head Coach Jacob Heck, the Bruins enter the matchup with a 2–7 record, including three losses that have come in overtime, and aim to convert their competitiveness into the win column.

Monday's contest tips off at 4:00 PM as the Bruins host Brewton-Parker College, a team they faced earlier this month on November 11. That first meeting saw Brewton-Parker claim a 73–64 victory in Mount Vernon, Georgia, after pulling away late in the second half. In that game, Carolina was led by Shawn Woodson (16 points) and Tristan Kuska (13 points, 6 rebounds), while Zay Scott added a double-digit effort on the glass with 10 rebounds, helping CU win the rebounding battle 42–33 despite the loss.

Carolina enters Monday with several bright spots statistically. According to the most recent season report, Woodson leads the Bruins at 14.8 points per game, followed closely by Kuska at 14.2 points per game, with both providing consistent inside-out scoring. The Bruins as a team hold a +10.3 rebounding margin, a key strength they will look to leverage again in the rematch.

Brewton-Parker arrives in Winston-Salem with a 6–2 overall record, coming off a recent loss to Spartanburg Methodist. The Barons won the first matchup behind a balanced effort and a major boost off the bench, highlighted by a 21-point performance from Jakobe Jones. Carolina's coaching staff will look to limit transition points and turnovers—areas that played a decisive factor in the earlier meeting, where Brewton-Parker scored 28 points off turnovers.

The Bruins, however, continue to show steady improvement and resilience, having pushed multiple opponents to the brink. With the home crowd behind them and momentum from several strong individual performances, Carolina aims to split the season series and pick up a key non-conference win before heading deeper into the winter stretch.

Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM Monday inside Williams Gymnasium.
