The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team is back on the road this week as the Bruins travel to Augusta, Georgia, to face Paine College on Tuesday, November 4, with first serve set for 6:00 p.m..
The Bruins will look to bounce back after a tough weekend at their final tri-match of the season, where they dropped matches to Johnson University (Tenn.) and Milligan University. With postseason play approaching, Tuesday's contest provides an opportunity for Carolina to regain momentum and close the regular season strong.
Bruins Look to Rebound
Carolina enters the matchup seeking to return to the form that fueled several key victories earlier in the season. The Bruins have showcased strong depth and balance throughout the year, with multiple players stepping up in recent matches.
Setter Syvannah Poore has continued to lead the offense efficiently, distributing the ball across multiple hitters, while middle blockers Melia Coleman and Kammi Naude have provided consistent scoring. Defensive specialists Kai Horta and Valeria Suarez have anchored the back row with steady serve-receive and defensive coverage.
Earlier this season, Carolina swept Paine College in straight sets at Williams Gymnasium, dominating with a .230 team hitting percentage and a 17-ace serving performance. The Bruins will look to repeat that success on the road.
Scouting the Opponent – Paine College
Paine (0–11) opened its season with a loss to Carolina on September 2 in Winston-Salem. In that meeting, Paine was led by Jamaya Allen, who tallied eight kills, and Makayla Evans, who dished out 11 assists. The Lions finished the match hitting .000 as a team but showed stretches of aggressive play at the net.
The Lions will be looking to capitalize on their home-court advantage this time around as they aim for their first win of the season.
Coach's Outlook
Head Coach Chelsea Jones and her staff are emphasizing focus and execution heading into Tuesday's match.
"We had a tough weekend, but this group is resilient," said Jones. "Our emphasis is on bouncing back with energy and composure. We've proven what we can do when we play together and communicate. Tuesday is about getting back to that standard."
