WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Carolina University Bruins return home this weekend as they host Milligan University on Saturday, November 1, with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m. inside the Williams Gymnasium.
Carolina enters the contest at 1–1 on the young season after splitting a pair of competitive early matchups. The Bruins opened the year with a strong 84–74 home win over Columbia International before narrowly falling in overtime, 85–83, on the road at Columbia College (S.C.). Despite the setback, Carolina displayed grit and offensive consistency, rallying in the second half to force overtime before coming up just short in the extra period.
Through two games, the Bruins are averaging 83.5 points per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 32.6% from beyond the arc. Carolina has also been active on the boards, outrebounding opponents 42.0 to 39.5 per game, led by junior forward Deuce Ford, who is off to a hot start averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest while shooting over 56% from the floor. Freshman forward Tristan Kuska has made an immediate impact with 13.5 points per game on 58% shooting, while veterans Devan Edwards and Shawn Woodson each contribute 13.0 points per game to pace a balanced offensive attack.
Defensively, the Bruins have limited opponents to just 17.9% from three-point range while forcing an average of 13.5 turnovers per game. Carolina will look to build on that defensive pressure as they prepare for their second home contest of the season.
Milligan University comes into Saturday's game with an 0–2 record, looking to pick up its first win of the campaign.
With early-season momentum and home-court energy on their side, Head Coach Jacob Heck and the Bruins will look to protect their home floor and move above .500 as they continue to build toward the heart of their non-conference schedule.
