Clemmons, NC - Carolina University Softball played their first games of the season against Columbia International University on their home field on Wednesday, February 8th. The Bruins scored a run in the 1st inning, answered by CIU in the 3rd. CU scored another run in the 4th inning and took the score to 4-2 in the 5th inning. The CIU Rams made a comeback in the final inning with 5 runs and the Bruins came up just short, finishing their first game with a score of 7-8. 

Jessyca Cardona was 2 of 4 with 2 RBIs. Kalea Bolch was 2 of 3 and had a double. Emma King was 2 of 4 with an RBI and a double. ZyMaijah Thomas and Kourtney Cox also had doubles. Danielle Brooks pitched for all 7 innings and had 2 strikeouts. 

In their second game of the day, CIU jumped out to an early lead. The Bruins were down 9-1 in the 4th inning and didn't have enough in the tank to mount a full comeback. CU finished with a score of 1-11 to close out the double-header. 

ZyMaijah Thomas was 2 of 3 at the plate and Emma King had an RBI. Grace Crocker and Mary Miller did well pitching for the Bruins.
