The Crusaders scored three runs in the third inning off a double.
Desiree Torres pitched for Piedmont and lasted five innings, allowing ten hits and nine runs while walking one.
Torres, Kayli Cook, Olivia Bullard, and Jessyca Cardona each collected one hit for PIU.
In the next game, Piedmont dug themselves into another early rut. North Greenville University took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. The Lady Bruins struggled to contain the high-powered offense of NGU, giving up ten runs.
The Crusaders scored seven runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for North Greenville University came thanks to singles by two of their players, a home run, and an error on a ball put in play.
Missy Smith toed the rubber for the Bruins, allowing allowed nine hits and ten runs over five innings, striking out two and walking one.
Olivia Bullard went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead PIU in hits.
