Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Winston-Salem, NC -- On Friday, the Lady Bruins captured the lead late in the first game in a 17-12 victory over Hiwassee College. The game was tied at 12 with Piedmont batting in the bottom of the sixth when Desiree Torres singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Hiwassee College opened up an early lead in the second inning when one of their players drew a walk, scoring one run. The Tigers scored three runs in the third inning. A single and a groundout drove Hiwassee College's big inning.
Torres got the start for the Lady Bruins. She surrendered six runs on four hits over three innings, striking out two.
Piedmont racked up 16 hits. Cook, Missy Smith, Jessyca Cardona, and Olivia Bullard each had multiple hits. Cook led PIU with four hits in five at-bats. Cook doubled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and singled in the sixth. Cook also led the team with four stolen bases.

In the second game, a walk-off single led the Lady Bruins past Hiwassee College, 4-3. The game was tied at three at the bottom of the seventh when Desiree Torres singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. PIU earned the victory despite allowing Hiwassee College to score three runs in the sixth inning. 

Piedmont tallied a total of nine hits. Torres led the Lady Bruins with three hits in four at-bats. The Lady Bruins tallied one home run on the day by Sarah Marshall who hit a long-ball in the sixth inning.
