Box Score NEWBERRY, SC - On Friday evening (Nov. 22), the Piedmont Bruins challenged Newberry College, posting a 73-64 loss. The Bruins played a strong first half, where they led the Wolves for almost the entirety of the 20 minutes.
In the first, Piedmont scored a total of 38 points and led by five at the break.
Curtis Coleman Jr. was a leader for the Bruins as he made four of his eight field-goal attempts for ten points. The Bruins shot 12-for-30 from the field in the half but were outrebounded by the Wolves 11-22.
In the second half, Newberry was able to capture back the lead in the 16th minute and maintain it for the rest of the game.
Tamir Glenn led PIU in scoring in the half with 14 points as he finished with 22 to lead the team overall. Coleman scored four more points in the second half to join Glenn in double-figures with 14.Â
Ben-ami Spence finished with eight points and two rebounds, as he hit 4-for-6 in field attempts.
The Bruins will return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday as they host their first home game of the regular season on Dec. 1. They will tip-off against Voorhees College at 3 PM.
