WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — After earning their first win of the season at Paine College on November 22, the Carolina University Women's Basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, December 3, when they travel to Livingstone College for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. The Bruins, led by Head Coach Hannah Latiolais, look to build momentum following a long Thanksgiving break and a challenging opening month of competition.
Carolina (1–6) opened the season with one of the toughest slates in the NAIA, facing multiple teams receiving votes or ranked inside the Top 25. Despite the early adversity, the Bruins have shown steady growth and improvement, highlighted in their road victory over Paine where they shot a season-best 43.5% from the field and connected on nine three-pointers. The team also posted a season-high 48 rebounds, demonstrating their continued development on the boards.
"We've played a demanding schedule early, and it has really pushed our group to grow," said Coach Latiolais. "Coming off our first win and time to reset over the break, we're excited to get back on the floor and continue building our identity. The team is hungry, and we're trending in the right direction."
Through seven games, the Bruins are averaging 64.4 points per game while pulling down over 40 rebounds per outing. Junior guard Dearia Page leads the team with 78 total points, averaging 11.1 per game.
Carolina's defensive presence continues to develop as well, averaging 7.4 steals per game and 2.6 blocks per game—key factors that helped seal their win at Paine. The Bruins will look to clean up the glass and reduce turnovers as they continue to sharpen their execution in December.
Livingstone College enters Wednesday's contest with an 0–4 record and will be seeking their first win of the season on their home floor. The matchup presents an important opportunity for Carolina to build on their recent success and begin the month with a strong performance.
"We want to come out with energy, discipline, and confidence," Latiolais added. "Our players are beginning to understand what it takes to compete at a high level. Wednesday is another step in that process."
The Bruins will tip off at 5:30 p.m. in Salisbury, N.C., as they aim for their second straight victory and continue to establish momentum heading into the heart of the season.
