Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bruins Women’s Basketball Shine on Senior Night with 67–49 Victory Over Voorhees

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Tuesday night inside Williams Gymnasium was more than just another game for Carolina University Women's Basketball—it was a celebration. On Senior Night, the Bruins honored three student-athletes who have helped shape the program: Angelina Jordan, Janiya Mitchell, and Jakyiiah Willis. With postseason play on the horizon and the final home game of the regular season on the line, Carolina delivered a memorable performance, defeating Voorhees University 67–49.

Just one week removed from a 73–66 road loss to Voorhees, the Bruins flipped the script in front of their home crowd. Carolina controlled the tempo early and never looked back, building momentum quarter by quarter to secure the 18-point victory.

Carolina opened with a 15–12 lead after the first period and widened the gap in the second, holding Voorhees to just five points to take a 26–17 advantage into halftime. The Bruins continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Voorhees 41–32 over the final two quarters to seal the win.

Senior Jakyiiah Willis led the way with a game-high 19 points while adding 10 rebounds in a strong all-around performance. Dearia Page followed closely with 18 points and eight rebounds, while fellow senior Angelina Jordan contributed 11 points, including three three-pointers. Janiya Mitchell added six points in her Senior Night appearance.

As a team, Carolina forced 23 points off turnovers and used timely scoring runs to stretch the lead to as many as 20 points in the second half.

Head Coach Hannah Latiolais Quote:
"Senior Night is always emotional, but I'm incredibly proud of the way our team showed up and competed for Angelina, Janiya, and Jakyiiah. They've poured so much into this program, and to see them lead us to a win in our final home game means everything. This group is continuing to grow at the right time as we head into postseason play."

With the regular season nearing its conclusion, the Bruins now turn their focus to the road. Carolina will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 21, traveling to face Spartanburg Methodist with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m.
