Women’s Basketball Set for Road Matchup at Montreat College

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Carolina University Women's Basketball continues its early non-conference schedule on the road this weekend, traveling to Montreat College for a 5 p.m. tipoff on Saturday, November 8. The contest marks the Bruins' third straight road game to open the 2025–26 campaign.

Carolina University enters the matchup looking to build momentum after competing hard in its first two contests against Georgetown College and WVU Tech. Through two games, the Bruins are averaging 61.5 points per game while pulling down 47.5 rebounds per contest, showing strong effort on the glass. Graduate guard Sy-Marieona Williams has led the early scoring charge with 30 total points, while Dearia Page and MeiLani Patterson have added 27 and 19 points, respectively, providing key production from the backcourt.

Head Coach Hannah Latiolais, in her first season leading the Bruins, emphasized the team's focus on steady improvement and energy heading into the weekend matchup.

"We've seen good stretches of basketball and effort through our first two games," Latiolais said. "Our goal is to keep tightening the details — especially on the defensive end — and to bring consistent intensity for four quarters. Every trip on the road early in the year is an opportunity to grow and learn who we are as a team."

Montreat College (1–3) enters Saturday's game coming off its first win of the season, a 77–64 victory over Oakland City. The Cavaliers are led offensively by Rymiah Sanders, who is averaging 17.5 points per game, and Bayleigh Winkler, who contributes 11.8 points per outing.

Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two programs this season, as Carolina University looks to notch its first win under Coach Latiolais and continue building chemistry within a roster featuring four returners and 13 newcomers.
