EMORY, Va. — The Carolina University Women's Soccer team closed out its regular season on a cold and rainy Wednesday evening with a road matchup against NCAA Division II opponent Emory & Henry. Despite a determined effort in difficult conditions, the Bruins fell 3–0 to the Wasps at the Food City Sports Complex.
Emory & Henry broke through in the 32nd minute when Charlotte Stavis found the back of the net to put the hosts ahead 1–0. Stavis would strike again early in the second half, extending the margin to two goals in the 63rd minute. The Wasps added a final tally in the closing minutes when Anjelika DeJesus converted with an assist from Siena Booth.
Senior goalkeeper Alona Locklear stood out in net for Carolina University, making an impressive 16 saves on 28 total shots. Offensively, the Bruins created several quality chances with six total shots—four of which were on goal—from Alexa Anderson, Kyara Gonzalez, Peyton Battilla, and Natalie Puskar.
Head Coach Boo Tesh commended his team's resilience, stating, "It wasn't the result we hoped for, but I'm proud of the way our group competed in tough conditions. We showed heart, and now our focus shifts to preparing for the conference tournament."
The matchup marked the final regular season contest for the Bruins, who now turn their attention to the Continental Athletic Conference Tournament, set to begin next week at Georgia Gwinnett College.
