BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Carolina University Bruins Softball team traveled to Montreat College on Saturday, April 11 for a non-conference doubleheader at Roxy Hines Field, falling in both contests despite flashes of offensive production throughout the afternoon. Carolina will return home Monday, April 13 to host Greensboro College in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Game 1: Montreat 15, Carolina 2
Carolina opened the day by striking first in the top of the first inning, as Nathaly Ochoa set the tone with a leadoff single and later scored on an RBI single from Emma-Lea Cabral. The Bruins added another run in the third, but Montreat's offense proved overwhelming, erupting for 14 runs across the second through fourth innings to secure a 15-2 run-rule victory.

In the second game, Carolina showed resilience, collecting seven hits and scoring in three separate innings. The Bruins broke through in the second inning with an RBI single from Madison Hamilton and later added runs in the third and fifth innings. However, Montreat answered with consistent offensive pressure, including multi-run frames in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings to complete the sweep with a 12-4 victory.

Interim Head Coach Danielle Brooks reflected on the day's challenges and opportunities:
"We faced a tough opponent today, but there were still positives we can build on. I was proud of the way we continued to compete at the plate and create opportunities offensively. We'll focus on tightening things up defensively and in the circle as we prepare for Monday."
