WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Carolina University Bruins Softball hosted Division III Greensboro College on Monday, April 13, falling in both games of a doubleheader at Wilson Park. Despite flashes of offensive production, the Bruins were unable to hold off late surges from the Pride.

Game 1: Greensboro 11, Carolina 2

In the opener, Greensboro used a five-run third inning and a six-run fifth to pull away for an 11-2 victory.

Carolina struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Nathaly Ochoa tripled and later scored on an RBI single from Chloe Herbster. The Bruins added their second run in the fourth on a solo home run by Emma-Lea Cabral.

In the circle, Madison Hamilton took the loss, while Ellie Haas provided relief. Greensboro finished with 12 hits and capitalized on key scoring opportunities late in the game.

Game 2: Greensboro 9, Carolina 6 (8 innings)

The Bruins responded with a stronger offensive showing in game two but ultimately fell 9-6 in extra innings.

Carolina built early momentum, scoring five runs through the first three innings, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Emma-Lea Cabral and consistent pressure on the basepaths.

From the Coach

"We showed resilience in the second game and competed much better at the plate," said Interim Head Coach Danielle Brooks. "We just have to clean up a few things defensively and stay consistent for all seven innings. I'm proud of the fight, and we'll be ready for the next opportunity."

Carolina University Softball will return to action on Wednesday, April 15, as the Bruins host Paine College.
