Carolina Softball Sweeps Shaw in Midweek Doubleheader at Wilson Park

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Carolina University softball returned to the win column on Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Shaw University in a doubleheader at Wilson Park. After going 2–4 during their spring break trip to Florida, the Bruins responded with a strong offensive showing to take both games, winning 15–9 in Game 1 and 9–1 in Game 2.

"Our team responded well after a challenging stretch in Florida," said Interim Coach Danielle Brooks. "We had great energy, competed hard at the plate, and found ways to put runs together when we needed them. It was great to see the offense come alive and for our pitchers to settle in and finish the job."

Carolina's offense erupted for 18 hits as the Bruins rallied from an early deficit to defeat Shaw 15–9 in the opener.

Shaw struck first with two runs in the opening inning and added another in the second to take an early lead. Carolina responded in the bottom of the second with a five-run inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double from Emma-Lea Cabral that gave the Bruins a 7–3 advantage.

The Bears briefly reclaimed momentum in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to take a 9–8 lead. Carolina quickly answered in the bottom half with three runs to regain control before adding four more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Ellie Haas earned the win in relief, tossing three scoreless innings and striking out three to close out the game.
