No. 12 Lindsey Wilson Tops Carolina Women’s Basketball in Road Test to Open 2026

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Carolina University women's basketball opened the 2026 calendar year with a challenging road matchup, falling 105–67 to No. 12 Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center. The game marked the Bruins' first official contest back from the Christmas break against a Blue Raiders squad that entered the day with a 12–2 record.

Carolina battled early, trading baskets through much of the opening quarter before Lindsey Wilson used a late surge to take a 20–13 lead after one. The Blue Raiders continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, extending the margin to 50–31 at the half behind efficient shooting and control of the paint.

Despite the deficit, the Bruins showed resilience coming out of the locker room. Carolina knocked down four three-pointers in the third quarter and continued to compete offensively, but Lindsey Wilson's depth and rebounding presence pushed the lead further heading into the final period. Carolina closed the game with a 19-point fourth quarter, continuing to fight until the final buzzer.

Angelina Jordan led Carolina with a team-high 22 points, knocking down seven three-pointers and logging all 40 minutes. Dearia Page added 15 points, while Jakyiiah Willis chipped in 14 points and three steals. As a team, Carolina shot 39.7 percent from the field and connected on 11 three-pointers.

Head coach Hannah Latiolais acknowledged the challenge of opening the new year against a nationally ranked opponent but emphasized growth moving forward.

"Lindsey Wilson is a very talented and experienced team, and they exposed some areas we need to clean up," Latiolais said. "I was proud of our effort and how we continued to compete, especially coming off the break. This game gives us a clear picture of where we need to improve as we head into the heart of our schedule."

Carolina will look to build on the experience as the Bruins continue non-conference play and travel and play Campbellsville on Sunday January 4 for 3pm tipoff.
