CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Carolina University women's basketball continued a demanding stretch away from home over the weekend, taking on No. 3 Campbellsville University on Sunday, January 4, at the Powell Athletic Center. The nationally ranked Tigers used their depth and efficiency to secure a 113–28 win as the Bruins wrapped up a tough back-to-back road swing to open the new year.
Carolina entered the contest coming off its game on Saturday, January 3, and faced another formidable challenge against a Campbellsville team that came in with a 15–1 record. The Tigers set the tone early, building a lead in the opening quarter and maintaining control throughout the afternoon.
Angelina Jordan led the Bruins with 11 points, while Dearia Page and MeiLani Patterson each added five. Tynilla Simpkins provided energy off the bench with four points and a team-high 12 rebounds as Carolina continued to compete despite the challenging matchup.
Head coach Hannah Latiolais emphasized the value of facing elite competition as the season progresses.
"These games test us in every way," Latiolais said. "Playing teams like Campbellsville on the road exposes areas where we need to grow, but it also shows us the standard we're chasing. Our group continues to work and stay together, and that's important as we move forward."
The Bruins will look to regroup quickly as the schedule turns back toward home. Carolina returns to Williams Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 7, to host Spartanburg Methodist College, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. The matchup will mark an opportunity for the Bruins to build momentum in front of the home crowd after an intense road stretch.
