Carolina University Men’s Soccer Falls to WVU Tech on the Road

Beckley, W.Va. – September 23, 2025 – Carolina University Men's Soccer suffered a 3–0 defeat to WVU Tech on Tuesday afternoon at Paul Cline Stadium. The Bruins held their ground early but ultimately could not overcome a strong Golden Bears side that remains unbeaten on the season.

WVU Tech struck first in the 20th minute when Keishon Clarke found the back of the net. Despite defensive pressure from Carolina and several key saves by goalkeeper Joshua Wilson, the Golden Bears extended their advantage in the 69th minute through Julen Recalde, assisted by Vasco Berardo. Athman Musinde sealed the match with an 81st-minute goal to give WVU Tech the 3–0 victory.

Carolina was limited to just two shots on goal, both turned away by the WVU Tech defense. Wilson recorded three saves in net for the Bruins.

The loss marks Carolina's second straight setback, the first time the program has dropped back-to-back matches since the 2022 season, when the Bruins fell in consecutive outings to Greensboro College and Bob Jones University.

Head Coach Craig Golding acknowledged the disappointment but emphasized resilience moving forward:

"We faced a very disciplined WVU Tech team tonight, and while the score line doesn't reflect our effort, we know we need to be sharper in key moments. This is a setback, but it's also an opportunity for us to grow. We haven't lost two in a row since 2022, and I believe this group has the character to respond the right way."

Carolina (3–2) will look to rebound in its next match as the Bruins return home to face King University on Tuesday September 30 for a kickoff slated 7 p.m.
