Williamsburg, Ky. – August 29, 2025 – The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team opened its 2025 season with a 3–1 victory over Union Commonwealth on Friday evening. The Bruins took the match by set scores of 25–16, 25–17, 16–25, and 25–21.
Carolina's offense was led by Britney Comolli, who tallied 12 kills, while Kammi Naudé and Jordan Connolly added nine and eight respectively. Syvannah Poore directed the attack with 25 assists and chipped in defensively with two digs. On the back row, Kai Horta anchored the defense with a team-high 20 digs.
The Bruins controlled the opening two sets before Union Commonwealth battled back to take the third. Carolina regrouped in the fourth, pulling away late to secure the match.
Head Coach Chelsea Jones praised her team's composure in the opener:
"I'm proud of the way our team handled adversity tonight. We had great contributions across the board, and this was an important first step as we continue to grow together this season."
With the win, Carolina improves to 1–0, while Union Commonwealth falls to 0–5.
