Carolina University Women’s Volleyball Set for Cumberlands Invite

WILMORE, Ky. – The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team will open its 2025 season this weekend at the Cumberlands Invite, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands. The Bruins will play three matches in two days, facing a mix of nationally ranked talent and strong regional opponents.

Carolina begins tournament play on Friday, August 29, at 6:30 PM against Union Commonwealth University (Ky.). The Bruins will then face one of their toughest tests of the early season when they take on No. 17 Montana Tech on Saturday, August 30, at 10:00 AM. CU will close out the weekend against the host University of the Cumberlands at 12:30 PM that same day.

The invitational will be the first opportunity for Head Coach Chelsea Jones to see this year's squad in official competition, and the weekend's slate offers valuable experience against quality opposition.

Opponent Breakdown:

  • Union Commonwealth University (KY): Opening opponent for the Bruins. While they come in with an 0-4 record, Union Commonwealth provides a competitive local matchup to get the tournament started.

  • #17 Montana Tech: A nationally ranked program entering the weekend with a 2–1 record. The Orediggers are perennial NAIA contenders and present a strong early-season challenge for Carolina.

  • University of the Cumberlands (KY): The Patriots will host the tournament and look to defend their home court after starting the season 4-0. This matchup will serve as a gauge to start their season for the Bruins as they close out the weekend.

The Bruins enter the tournament with a clean slate and look to build early momentum as they start a brand new season here in 2025. Fans can follow along with live stats and video links provided by the University of the Cumberlands throughout the weekend.
