Asheville, NC – Carolina University Men's Volleyball traveled this weekend for a tri-match hosted by Warren Wilson. The Bruins faced off against the Owls and also played against the Roanoke College Maroons.
In their first match against Roanoke, the Bruins struggled to find their footing and lost 0-3, with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-17. Jashawn Sykes led the Blue and Gold offensively with 7 kills, supported by freshman setter Kai Jamerson, who tallied 17 assists. The Bruins showed signs of life in the second set, falling short by just two points. Aggressive serving helped them go on several long runs and briefly equalize, but they couldn't capitalize to overcome the Maroons.
In their second matchup of the day, the Bruins faced the Owls of Warren Wilson. Carolina University dominated, sweeping the Owls 3-0 with set scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-16, marking head coach Jake Boldog's first collegiate win. Sykes again led the Bruins offensively with 6 kills, while Wesley Diggs anchored the defense with a remarkable 10 digs. The Bruins will look to carry this momentum into their next matches.
Men's Volleyball will return to action on February 4th when they face the St. Andrews Knights in an away game at 6:00 PM.
