November 5, 2025 | Beckley, WV.- Carolina University Women's Basketball continued its early-season road stretch on Tuesday evening, traveling to Beckley, West Virginia, to take on West Virginia Tech in the first of three meetings this season. Despite a competitive first half, the Bruins ultimately fell 80–63 to the Golden Bears at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
Head Coach Hannah Latiolais' squad battled throughout the contest, opening strong with a 16–16 tie after the first quarter. The Bruins kept the game within reach through halftime, trailing just 34–27, before WVU Tech used a 20-point third quarter to build separation down the stretch.
Graduate guard Sy-Marieona Williams led the Bruins with a standout performance, scoring 20 points on 6-of-20 shooting, including four three-pointers, while also pulling down six rebounds. Forward MeiLani Patterson added 10 points and five rebounds, providing consistent energy on both ends. Aniyah Robinson contributed eight points and 13 rebounds, recording her second double-digit rebounding effort of the young season, while Dearia Page filled the stat sheet with four points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
As a team, Carolina University totaled 50 rebounds and showed flashes of improvement in half-court execution, particularly with ball movement and second-chance opportunities. However, WVU Tech capitalized on their depth and size advantage, outscoring the Bruins 26–20 in the final quarter to secure the win.
The Golden Bears were led by Cadence Stewart, who tallied 23 points and four three-pointers, and Alexis Sexton, who notched a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
