Augusta, Ga. — November 22, 2025 — Carolina University Women's Basketball broke through for its first victory of the young season on Saturday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 76–73 road win over Paine College at the Heal Complex. After several close losses early in the year, the Lady Bruins delivered a poised fourth-quarter performance to secure the breakthrough result.
Carolina (1–6) outscored Paine 18–14 in the final period, closing the game on a decisive defensive stand and a late three-pointer from Angelina Jordan, who finished with 17 points, including three triples. The Bruins showcased balanced scoring and resilience, erasing multiple second-half deficits to control the game's final moments.
The Lady Bruins were propelled by a strong interior presence, winning the rebounding battle 48–35 and converting 24 second-chance points, as well as significant contributions from the bench, which added 32 points. Dearia Page posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Tynilla Simpkins and MeiLani Patterson each added 10 points with timely baskets in the paint. Jakyiiah Willis provided a spark with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Carolina trailed by as many as 14 in the second quarter but chipped away throughout the second half. In the final minute, Patterson hit a go-ahead jumper to make it 73–71, and after Paine tied the game, Jordan buried the game-winning three with 20 seconds remaining. Defensive stops on the final two possessions sealed the win.
