Winston-Salem, N.C. — October 4, 2025 — The #7 Carolina University Men's Soccer team played to a thrilling 2–2 draw against unbeaten Pfeiffer University on Saturday evening at Truist Sports Park. Despite facing a late equalizer, the Bruins demonstrated poise, control, and competitive spirit against one of the region's top sides.
Carolina struck first in the 7th minute when Lewis Jacklin continued his impressive scoring form, finding the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. The Bruins held that advantage into halftime, showing composure in possession and defensive discipline.
In the second half, Pfeiffer's Barrett Owens tied the game in the 74th minute, but Carolina immediately responded. Just two minutes later, Will McCamley calmly converted a penalty kick to restore the lead at 2–1 after a red card to Pfeiffer's Erick Campos-Marquez left the Falcons a man down. Pfeiffer, however, managed to equalize again in the 86th minute through Wesley Hooker, sealing the match at 2–2.
Carolina outshot Pfeiffer 16–9, led by McCamley with five shots (four on goal) and Jacklin with four. Goalkeeper Joshua Wilson recorded three saves in the draw.
Head Coach Craig Golding praised his team's effort after the match:
"I'm proud of the way our guys competed today," said Golding. "We showed we can go toe-to-toe with an unbeaten team and still create chances. Our mentality and execution were strong, and while we're disappointed not to come away with all three points, this was another step forward in our growth as a team."
The draw moves Carolina to 4–2–1 on the season, while Pfeiffer remains unbeaten at 8–0–2. The Bruins will return to action next week as they travel to Lawrenceville, GA to start Continental Athletic Conference play.
