Carolina University Men’s Soccer Splits Weekend in Lawrenceville, Georgia

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Carolina University Men's Soccer team went 1–1 this past weekend at the Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The Bruins dropped their first match 2–1 to Florida National University on Thursday, October 9, before bouncing back with a commanding 6–1 victory over United States Sports University on Saturday, October 11.

Game 1 – Florida National 2, Carolina 1 (Thursday, Oct. 9)

Carolina battled hard against a strong Florida National side but came up just short. After falling behind 1–0 in the first half, the Bruins conceded another goal early in the second before junior forward Will McCamley broke through in the 83rd minute with his third goal of the season. Despite outshooting the Conquistadors 10–9 and earning 12 corner kicks to none, Carolina was unable to find the equalizer late in the match.
The Bruins moved to 4–3–1 and 0-1 on the season.

Game 2 – Carolina 6, United States Sports University 1 (Saturday, Oct. 11)

Two days later, Carolina rebounded in dominant fashion with an offensive explosion against United States Sports University. Will McCamley opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest and added a second later in the first half, bringing his season total to five goals. Lewis Jacklin matched that energy with two goals of his own — one in each half — while Samuel Richter, Giancarlo Alvarez, and Josef Holmes (assist) also contributed to the scoring effort.
The Bruins controlled possession throughout, outshooting USSU 23–16 and holding a 9–3 advantage in corner kicks. Wilson tallied six saves before Seiya Sato closed the final minutes in goal. Carolina improved to 5–3–1 overall and 1-1 in Continental Athletic Conference with the victory.
