Carolina University Men’s Basketball Set for Road Test at Columbia College

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Following an impressive 84–74 season-opening victory over Columbia International University last week, the Carolina University Bruins Men's Basketball team now turns its attention to Columbia College, with tipoff scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina. This matchup marks an early-season nonconference test for Head Coach Jacob Heck and his veteran-led squad.

The Bruins displayed a strong all-around performance in their opening win, shooting 44.8% from the field and controlling the boards with a 48–35 rebounding advantage. Freshman forward Tristan Kuska made a statement in his collegiate debut, leading the team with 23 points and 9 rebounds on 60% shooting. Senior forward Deuce Ford added 14 points and 9 rebounds, while senior guard Jason Danso contributed 15 points, including 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Junior guard Devan Edwards scored 10 points and provided steady perimeter defense, while junior guard Shawn Woodson chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. Carolina also showed its physicality inside, pulling down 14 offensive rebounds and earning 40 free-throw attempts in the win.

Columbia College enters the contest with momentum of its own after defeating Mid-Atlantic Christian University 79–73 in its season opener. Columbia shot 46.5% from the field and 77% from the free-throw line, demonstrating balance across the lineup.

Head Coach Jacob Heck praised his team's effort in the season opener but emphasized the importance of continued discipline and defensive execution:

"We were encouraged by how our guys competed and finished plays against a quality opponent," said Heck. "Columbia is well-coached, athletic, and efficient on both ends. It's a great early challenge for us as we continue building our identity."

The Bruins will look to carry their winning energy onto the road as they continue their early-season nonconference slate.

Tipoff between Carolina University and Columbia College is set for Wednesday, October 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Columbia, South Carolina.
