Spartanburg, SC – The Carolina University Women's Basketball team dropped a hard-fought contest to Spartanburg Methodist College, 83-74, on Tuesday night. With the game tied at 66 late in the fourth quarter, the Pioneers closed out the game with a 10-2 run to secure the win.
Spartanburg Methodist (4-10) had five players in double figures, led by Najah Gilliam's 19 points. The Pioneers shot 44.4% from the field and made 20 free throws in the win.
The Bruins (8-6) were led by Keyani Jackson, who posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Felesia Ondongo came off the bench to score 19, while Le'Asia Matthews and Bianca Gonzalez each added 12 points.
The game was tied five times in the fourth quarter, with six lead changes, but Spartanburg Methodist capitalized on key turnovers and late shots to secure the victory.
Carolina University Women's Basketball will be back in action at home on January 9th at 2:00 PM against Mid Atlantic Christian University.
