Box Score Winston-Salem, NC – The Carolina University Men's Basketball team hosted the Bears of Clinton College tonight in a thrilling matchup. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Bruins fell short in a close finish, with a final score of 76-79.
The game started with the Bears coming out strong, taking an early lead. However, the Bruins quickly responded when Zivko Damjanovic broke the deadlock. Both teams battled throughout the first half, with the Bruins trailing 33-38 as the clock wound down.
In the second half, the Blue and Gold fought back to take the lead, but the Bears quickly equalized, setting the stage for an intense back-and-forth contest. Despite the Bears managing to score, the Bruins always had an answer, keeping the lead within reach for both teams.
Tonight's leading scorer for the Bruins, Aundree Polk, finished with 28 points and made a strong push in the final two minutes, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers in an effort to build momentum. However, the Bruins were unable to capitalize on the offensive surge. Polk also recorded a double-double in tonight's matchup, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with his 28 points, while shooting 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.
The Bruins will return to action tomorrow night, January 30th, at 6:00 PM on their home court, as they face off against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
