Ferrum, VA – Carolina University Women's Volleyball kicked off their 2024 season this weekend with a successful tri-tournament against Warren Wilson and Ferrum College. The Lady Bruins started strong with a 2-0 record and no sets dropped.
In their first match against Warren Wilson, newcomer Karli Totel made an impressive freshman debut, leading the team in kills. Freshman middle blocker Hayley Stull posted a .455 hitting percentage and recorded 5 kills on 11 attempts. The Bruins delivered a seamless performance, winning in three sets: 25-18, 27-25, 25-20.
Carrying their momentum into their second match against Ferrum College, sophomore Sarah Elizabeth Samuels had a standout game, tallying 14 kills across three sets and hitting at a .393% efficiency. Graduate student Rebecca Walker led the team defensively with 17 digs, contributing to another victory with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-19.
The Blue and Gold will return home on Wednesday, September 4th, to face the Rams of Bluefield University at 6:30 PM.
