Columbia, SC- Carolina University Baseball continues to dominate and takes the 3rd round of the NCCAA South Region Baseball Championships from the Lions of Paine College.
In a close match-up, the only 2 runs scored by the Bruins occurred in the 3rd inning. Alejandro Rodriguez offered a home run, and Paxton Tucker was able to single and advance to 2nd on a passed ball. Tanner Bray singles to left field, advancing Tucker to 3rd. Next up to bat, Leland Brown hits a sacrifice bunt to bring Tucker back home. Finishing the 3rd 2-0, the Bruins' defense was able to keep the Lions at bay, only letting up 1 run for the remainder of the 9 innings. The Bruins came out on top with a final score of 2-1.
Pitching for the Bruins was Jovany Mendez who tallied 3 strikeouts in 4.2 innings, Drew Holcombe threw 0.1, and John Luegering for 2.0 innings.
