Columbia, SC - Carolina University Baseball made waves, dominating in the first round of the NCCAA South Region Baseball Championships. The Blue and Gold faced off against the Chargers of Southeastern Baptist Bible College in a 7-inning match up. Carolina University emerged victorious with a score of 16-6, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament and the journey to Nationals.
The Bruins secured a 3-run lead over the Chargers by the top of the 3rd inning. By the 4th inning, the lead proved insurmountable for the Chargers, despite their efforts.
Paxton Tucker delivered the sole home run of the night for the Bruins in the 6th inning, resulting in 2 RBIs and bringing Bryan Deegan back to home plate. Alexiel Delgado led with 3 doubles, while Alejandro Rodriguez contributed 1 triple and 1 stolen base.
Pitcher Kaleb Whitaker secured the win for the Bruins, tallying 5 strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
