Baseball Sweeps Toccoa Falls

Toccoa, GA- Carolina University Baseball battled Friday and Saturday afternoon against the Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls College. The Bruins took all 3 games from the Eagles. This weekend's sweep will set the tone for the last 5 games of the regular season. 

The Bruins bested the Eagles 6-3, 12-10, and 5-2. 

Game 1 

In Friday afternoon's match-up, the Bruins took a strong lead, offense made quick work scoring 4-0 in the 1st inning. 

With bases loaded and 2 outs, William Darder doubled bringing 2 base runners home and scoring the first 2 runs of the game. Jase Brooks batted next singling to right field and tallying 2 RBIs, the score is now 4-0 and the end of the 1st. 

The Bruins were able to take advantage of fielding and pitching errors by the Eagles, the Bruins scored 1 run in the 2nd. In the 9th inning, Bryan Deegan closed out the game for the Bruins with a home run and tallied 1 more run to the Bruins lead. Finishing the first game 6-3, and ready to carry the momentum into tomorrow. 

Pitching for the Bruins was Kaleb Whitaker pitching 5 innings and tallying 3 strike outs. Chase Locklar pitched for 1 inning. Lastly, Andrew LaPrade pitched 3 innings for the Bruins and tallied 2 strikeouts. 

Game 2

Saturdays was back and forth handing off the lead, between the Bruins and the Eagles. The Bruins started with 3-0 before the Eagles tallied 5 runs on the board in the 3rd score 3-5. In the 6th inning, the Eagles still head the lead 7-10. Until the Bruins scored 5 runs in the 7th inning, the Bruins defense kept the Eagles from scoring any more runs the remainder of the game, ending with a score of 12-10. 

Bryan Deegan continued his home run streak into game 2 tallying his 2nd in the series. Alexiel Delgado and Alejandro Rodriguez both had 3 RBIs and 1 double each. 

The winning pitcher for the Bruins was Franke Burke. 

Game 3

For the last game of the series, the Bruins finished in 8 innings with a score of 5-2. 

Tanner Bray had a home run for the Blue and Gold. Paxton Tucker and Avery Adams both had 2 RBIs. 

Pitching for the Blue and Gold was Alex Prevost, tallying 5 strikeouts. 

Up Next 

The Bruins will be at home for a single Tuesday to battle the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College.
