Clemmons, NC- Carolina University Softball earns another sweep in Monday's Senior Day doubleheader against the Bears of Livingstone. The Bruins were able to go home early after both of their 5 innings games.
The Lady Bruins won the first game 17-1. The second game of the series ended 13-1 and a win for Carolina University Softball Seniors.
Game 1
Starting strong the Bruins led the 1st innings 2-1, the Bruins's exceptional defense kept the Bears from earning any more runs for the remainder of the first game.
Senior Grace Johnson first up to bat delivers a home run over the left field fences setting the tone for the rest of the game and living up to her recent MVP award status. Kalea Bolch doubles into right field, and Danielle Brooks singles to bring her home making the score 2-1.
In the 2nd inning, the Blue and Gold scored 6 runs and in the 3rd they scored 9. Nicole Otto singled with 2 base runners in the field advancing 1 home, tallying herself an RBI. Grace Johnson offers her 2nd home run of the day adding on 3 more RBIs, and bringing the score to 6-1. Zamijah Thomas singles to left field making her the sole base runner, but Kalea Bolch brings her home with yet another home run. Ending the 2nd inning 8-1, and a huge lead for the Bruins.
The Bruins scores 9 runs in the bottom of the 3rd.
Grace Johnson and Kalea Bolch both had 4 RBIs, both seniors had home runs in the 1st game of the day.
Senior Danielle Brooks pitched all 5 innings for the Bruins and tallied 4 strikeouts and no errors.
Game 2
The Bruins were able to establish another strong lead against the Bears, letting up only 1 run in the 1st the Bears would not be able to score again. The Bruins finished early in 5 innings with a score of 1-13, making for an exciting senior day.
Grace Johnson scored yet another home run in the 2nd game of the series, along with 4 RBIs. Danielle Brooks had 2 RBIs and 1 double. Kalea Bolch dah 1 RBI and 1 triple. Kourtney Cox had 1 RBI and 1 double.
