Elizabeth City, NC- Carolina University Baseball battled away in a 3 part series starting Friday night and ending Saturday afternoon against the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
The Bruins lost the 1st and 2nd matchup in the series with a score of 3-4, and 5-7. The Bruins battled in the 3rd taking the match from the Mustangs 3-2.
Game 1
Top of the 7th with base runners on 2nd and 3rd, Paxton Tucker singles on a line drive to 3rd earning himself an RBI. Tanner Bray singled bringing the 2nd base runner home, tallying the score 2-4. The Bruins' defense kept the Mustangs from scoring any runs in the bottom of the 7th.
The Bruins scored 1 more run in the top of the 8th as Julius Torres stole home, bringing the score to 3-4.
In game 1 freshman catcher Jacob Ananias tallied 10 POs and 1 double.
Game 2
In game 2 of the series, the Mustangs were able to start quicker than the Bruins, establishing a lead early. The Blue and Gold chipped away at their lead, strong defense kept the Mustangs from scoring any more runs past the 3rd inning.
In the top of the 5th with no runs scored, and 2 base runners on, Alexiel Delgado homered on a fly ball to center field. Building momentum now the score is 3-7. In the top of the 7th Bryan Deegan doubled, bringing both Delgado and Rodriguez back home.
The Bruins fell just short in game 2 with a score of 5-7.
Game3
The Bruins took the 3rd game of the series 3-2, on Saturday evening.
Tanner Bray tallied a home run along with 1 double.
Pitching for the Bruins was Alex Prevost for 6 innings and Caden Ross for 2 innings. Prevost had 3 strikeouts, Ross had 2 strikeouts and no errors.
Up Next
The Bruins will be back away next Friday, April 19th, to battle Toccoa Falls at 5:00 PM and Saturday at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
