Winona Lake, IN- Women's Basketball made their postseason appearance yesterday afternoon against the Asbury University Eagles. The Lady Bruins bested the Eagles taking the game 69-57 to advance to the semifinals.
The Lady Bruins produced 3 double-doubles in their National Championship Quarter-Final match up. Shantazia Gordon finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds. DenAsia Mitchell tallied 12 points with 13 Assists and Shamya Loman had 10 points with 12 rebounds for the Blue and Gold.
Right out of the gate, the Lady Bruins went on a 22-0 run. taking a dominating lead of 25-3 to end the 1st quarter. DenAsia Mitchell assisted Shamya Loman who put up the first points of the game. Kamelija Ignatova scored 9 points in the first quarter.
The Bruins held firm in the 2nd quarter as Asbury made a run to close the gap to 13 at Halftime. The 33. A strong effort in the 3rd saw the Bruins outscore their opponent again entering the 4th.
To end the night the Bruins had the last say after a strong surge from the Eagles, going on a short run of free throws to end the night. The Bruins had a FT percentage of 75% in the 4th quarter, while scoring a total of 18 points to end the night.
