Clemmons, NC- Carolina University Softball earned a sweep of today's home doubleheader against the Knights of St. Andrews University. After trading early blows, the Lady Bruins came out on top in the first game 9-5. Game 2 saw a fast start from the offense and they never looked back, ending the game by run-rule after 5 innings with a score of 10-2.
Game 1
Sophomore ZyMaijah Thomas made the first sound for the Lady Bruins in the bottom of the first with a hard-hit single through the left side to score Grace Johnson. Mackenzie Brown ensured two more runs for the Blue and Gold, earning two RBIs on a double to center field making the lead 4-1.
In the fifth Danielle Brooks was able to work her way out of the inning with a strikeout stranding two Knights base runners, Brooks recorded 7 strikeouts for the Bruins in game one
Bottom of the fifth, with one base runner, Kalea Bolch homered to left center securing two more runs for the Bruins last time at bat.
Game 2
The Lady Bruins made quick work in the bottom of the first. Johnson's first at-bat sent the ball over the fences, recording a home run. Second up to bat Thomas records a triple, Bolch lays down a single advancing Thomas to home plate.
The Blue and Gold recorded 4 runs in the bottom of the second extending the lead 6-1. With two base runners Lexi Hall earned 2 RBIs, with a single to left field scoring Thomas and Johnson.
With bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Nicole Otto singled and earned herself 1 RBI. The Bruins took advantage of a defensive error by the Knights's shortstop, gaining an unearned run and making the score 1-8.
The Blue and Gold finished the second match up 10-2, in five innings. The Bruins were able to capitalize on seventeen pitching errors by the Knights in two games.

Next up, The Lady Bruins will be in Salisbury, NC on Wednesday to battle the Blue Bears of Livingstone College.
