Men's Soccer Advances in NCCAA Tournament

Kissimmee, FL – The top-seeded Carolina University Men's Soccer team (#1) kicked off their first game of the NCCAA National Tournament today at 1:00 PM, facing off against #9 Asbury University. The Bruins battled through a tight contest, emerging victorious with a 3-2 win.

The Asbury Eagles struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Bruins. However, Carolina responded quickly, equalizing the score. Luigi Piccoli found the back of the net for the Bruins, assisted by Matthew McCamley and Luke Spillane-Davis. The first half continued with both teams pressing, but the Bruins' defense worked tirelessly to keep the Eagles at bay. Before the break, senior Owen Vaughan scored a pivotal goal, assisted by Henrique Buccini, giving the Bruins a 2-1 lead as the first half concluded.

The Bruins carried their momentum into the second half. Just after the restart, senior Luke Spillane-Davis extended the lead with a well-taken goal. Asbury fought back with a late strike, but their efforts fell short as time ran out. The final score was 3-2 in favor of Carolina University.

The Men's Soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, December 4th, at 1:00 PM, when they take on Southwestern Christian University in the second round of the NCCAA National Tournament.
