Women's Basketball Battles Johnson & Wales Away

Charlotte, NC- Carolina University Women's Basketball took on Johnson & Wales University last night the Bruins were edged out by the Wildcats, losing 85-92. Despite leading at halftime, the Bruins couldn't hold on in the final quarter, as the Wildcats outscored them 15-8 in the fourth to secure the win.

The first half saw back-and-forth action, with Johnson & Wales taking a slight 20-18 lead after the first quarter. Carolina bounced back in the second, outscoring the Wildcats 20-12 to take a 38-32 lead into halftime. The Bruins held on through a high-scoring third quarter, finishing ahead 62-53.

However, the Wildcats' late-game execution proved too much, as the Blue and Gold struggled offensively in the final period, giving up the lead. The game ended with Johnson & Wales on top, 92-85.

Nadia McDowell-Jackson led the Bruins with 22 points, while Le'Asia Matthews added 17. Felesia Ondongo recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Despite their efforts, Carolina couldn't close out the game, falling short in a hard-fought contest.

Women's Basketball will be back in action Monday the 16th at 5:00 PM on their home court taking on Spartanburg Methodist College.
