Men's Soccer Wins South Region Championship

Winston-Salem, NC — Carolina University Men's Soccer traveled to Florida this Saturday to face the Lions of Warner University in the NCCAA Regional Championship game. The Bruins emerged victorious, securing the South Regional Championship title.

Carolina was the first to find the back of the net after Warner committed a foul in the box. Senior Owen Vaughn stepped up to convert the penalty kick, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead. The Lions quickly responded, finding the equalizer not long after. But Vaughn was awarded another penalty kick in the first half, which he successfully converted, putting the Bruins back on top, 2-1, just before halftime.

In the second half, the Lions came out determined and quickly leveled the score at 2-2. As the clock wound down, the Bruins' defense held firm, preventing Warner from taking the lead. In the 73rd minute, Zaid Santo scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Nathan Rue, to give the Blue and Gold a 3-2 victory.

With the win, Carolina Men's Soccer will continue postseason play, heading to Florida for Nationals as the #1 seed in the tournament. The Bruins will face #9 Asbury University on December 2nd at 1 p.m. at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex in Kissimmee, FL.
