Winston-Salem, NC – Carolina University Women's Basketball kicked off their home season opener against Virginia University of Lynchburg tonight.
The Bruins got off to a slow start in the first quarter as the Dragons quickly took the lead, finishing the period with a score of 20-9. The Blue and Gold struggled to find their offensive rhythm early on.
However, in the third quarter, the Bruins found their footing and executed a series of strong offensive plays, leveling the score before time ran out. They regained the lead with a score of 62-47.
In a nail-biting fourth quarter, the Bruins maintained their lead, ultimately winning the game 67-61. The offensive surge in the third quarter was crucial in securing their victory. Shantazia Gordon recorded her second double-double of the season, contributing 14 rebounds and 12 points. Carley Bolden and Bianca Gonzales also made significant contributions, each scoring 12 points.
Women's Basketball will be back in action Wednesday October 30th at home as they take on Truett-McConell University at 5:00 PM.
